Spoon is an innovative, student-run food magazine for Northwestern students dedicated to making food more than just sustenance.  Our mission is to open college students’ eyes to cooking and everyday food in a way that’s relatable, accessible, entertaining, and delicious.  Whether you need to get creative with your lack of tools and ingredients or you want to find the best, inexpensive restaurant around here, Spoon’s got you covered. We’re here to provide you with the tools you need to eat well at home and in the dining halls, seek out new restaurants, maintain a healthy lifestyle, and most importantly, to care about the food you eat.

We also want you to know that all of the dishes you see on this website are made, photographed, and eaten by Northwestern college students.  We create and adapt recipes to suit college kids’ needs and we encourage you all to try cooking for yourself (or at least pressure an off-campus friend to cook for you).  We’re starting with the basics, and working our way up from there.  One day, we hope to be as good a cook as Ina Garten, Rick Bayless, and (the biggest challenge of all), Mom.

Stay updated with the online edition of our magazine, but keep your eye out for the print editions coming to NU every quarter!
